The Order of a Routine Matters More Than the Count
Ten products in the wrong order fight each other. Four in the right order can finish the job.

Order is how a product meets skin that can still receive it. Makeup and sunscreen come off before you treat, or you are treating a film. Watery and treatment layers go on before the cream that seals them. Sunscreen is last in the morning, or it is not protection, it is a layer you buried. An acid and a retinoid on the same night, in either order, is not sophistication. It is two turnovers at once, and the count of products is not what irritated you. The collision is.
A short order is enough. Night: cleanse, one treatment if the skin is calm, cream. Morning: rinse or a gentle cleanse, moisturizer if you need it, sunscreen. Eye cream, if you use one, is a small last step on that area, not a second serum all over the cheek. Waiting a minute between layers matters less than not stacking three treatments.
If your routine is long, fix the order before you buy the next bottle. You may find two products never touch skin because a heavy layer goes on too soon. Count is vanity. Sequence is the method. Most faces need a shorter sequence, done the same way, more than they need another step in the middle.
