What New Parents Actually Have Time to Do for Skin
The routine has to survive broken sleep. Anything longer is a wish.

New parents are not failing skincare. They are sleeping in pieces, washing their hands constantly, and aiming a bottle or a child at odd hours. A ten-step routine written for a quiet morning is fiction in that house. The version that works is insultingly short. At night, if you do one thing, remove the day and put on a cream. In the morning, sunscreen on the face if you will be near a window or outside. That is the floor. It is enough to stop the face from becoming an afterthought that cracks.
Skip the new retinoid in the first months unless a doctor has a reason and you can follow it. Irritation plus no sleep is a bad combination, and you will not have the patience to nurse a peeling barrier. A balm cleanser helps because it removes formula or sunscreen without a long double cleanse. Keep it by the sink you actually use, not in a cabinet you never open after dark.
A facial is reasonable when someone else can hold the baby and you can be unreachable for an hour. It is not a requirement for being a person who still has skin. If the gift you need is time, ask for the hour, or for an afternoon, not for a set of actives. The skin will take the cream and the sun protection. It will not take a project.
