How Holiday Weeks Show Up on Skin

Late nights, dry heat, and new products do more damage than the party makeup.

Velora Beauty

Holiday skin is usually sleep debt plus dry indoor air plus a cabinet that got experimental. Sugar and wine get blamed first. They matter less than going to bed late, skipping moisturizer, and starting a peel because a party is on the calendar. Makeup then sits on a dehydrated, slightly angry surface and looks older than it should.

The routine for those weeks should shrink. Cleanse properly, including the eyes, with an oil or balm so you are not rubbing. One treatment you already tolerate, or none if the barrier is tight. A cream. Sunscreen the next day if you will be outside or in a bright room for photographs. Do not add a new retinoid on the 20th because you want to look rested on the 24th.

If you book a facial, put it several days before the photographs, not the morning of, unless you already know that treatment. Give the face one quiet night. The glow people want is just skin that was not sanded, starved, or kept awake.
